Logan Harper is a former military man who ended up on the wrong end of an investigation. Returning home after losing his job, he went back to work with 80 year old father at Dunn Right Auto and Repair. In Little Girl Gone, Harper was asked to help a man get his granddaughter back from Thailand after she was taken, and now, he is asked once again to find someone that has gone missing.Callie Johnson is a lawyer and a friend of the family who asks Logan for help in finding Sara for Alan after she has been missing for 7 weeks. Sara Lindley disappeared after going away for a weekend getaway with her husband Alan. Sara is a mysterious woman with a past that she is trying to run away from. By leaving Alan, and her daughter behind, she hopes that those after her will somehow not find her or her husband and daughter Emily.Every Precious Thing is a mystery and a thriller all wrapped into one. It really delves into the baby making industry where scrupulous wealthy individuals and doctors work together to produce babies for body parts. It also drives home the point that no matter how much money you are offered, you HAVE to make sure that you read the bottom line so that nothing comes back and bites you in the ass. Logan is an interesting character who is surrounded by even more interesting older wiser men calling themselves WAMO Wise Ass Old Men. Logan’s relationship with his father breaks new ground when a mysterious letter arrives along with the book The Lost Horizon. I actually liked the ending, as well as how Battles wraps up part of a mystery surrounding a long missing relative from World War II. Battles tells the story by interacting with not only Logan, and Sara, but with the villainous doctor intent on getting Sara and Emily back at all costs. I appreciated how protective Sara's brother and sister were of her even at the risk of their own lives.I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of this book for review and an honest review, and I believe I’ve kept to my bargain. I also don’t believe that I’ve spoiled anything that happens over the course of the book with my novel.If you enjoy Battles writing, and read the first book, then you won’t have any problems with Precious Little Things.
