Outcast - Adrienne Kress *Genre* YA Paranormal*Rating* 4.0*First Thoughts*I really enjoyed reading Outcast and will not be one of those who compares this book to Angelfall. I enjoyed Sixteen year old Riley Carver as the main protagonist. I loved the setting as a small Bayou town called Hartwich which is deeply southern and religious and ends up being the center of angel activity where people are Taken and never return. I felt Riley's sorrow over losing her best friend Chris to the Taking after he was the first boy to ever kiss her. I felt her happiness when she and Gabe finally make a connection after struggling against differences of being. I found myself hoping that someone would come into her life and make her smile again. I even liked Riley's parents, which is absolutely a surprise. They were wonderful, and supportive, and gave her every opportunity she needed to do well in school, and otherwise. I know this is a standalone, but I really would like to have learned more about Riley, her abilities, her parentage, and whether or not she would ever get her HEA. Definitely worth taking the time to read! *Recvd via NetGalley 05/13/2013* Expected publication: June 4th 2013 by Diversion Books
