Fall of Night (Morganville Vampires Series)

Fall of Night - Rachel Caine *Genre* YA Paranormal*Rating* 3.5-4*Thoughts*The basic premise of Fall of Night is that Claire is finally given the opportunity by Amelie to explore her options by leaving Morganville to attend MIT and work with Professor Irene Anderson, a former Morganville native. Claire is still a bit disappointed in Shane for believing the crappy rumors about her and Michael for which he tries to apologize for by following her like a puppy dog all the way to Boston. What should be a pleasant getaway, becomes so much more when secrets are exposed and yet a new form of villain enters the series in a major way.I get why Caine wrote the ending to Fall of Night like she did. I really do. Obviously, she needs a way to wrap up this series with Daylighters (Morganville Vampires # 15) coming out in November. There are so many ways Daylighters can pay itself out, that I find myself believing it's very unlikely that the four main characters, Claire, Shane, Eve, and Michael will survive until the very end of this series--- especially with certain events that transpired in Fall of Night that may affect one of the main cast members. If they do, then I will be honestly delighted. Of all the characters in Fall of Night that were introduced, I liked Jessie the best with Pete a strong second. There are so many questions I have about Jessie's past, especially with Myrnin, that I wish, no, hope that Caine will reveal them in Daylighters. Overall, Fall of Night was a bit predictable. As they synopsis for Dayligters is already out, I can't spoil anything by saying the Claire's return to Morganville was never in doubt. It was in the matter of how she returned that needed to be revealed and played out. Published May 7th 2013 by New American Library
