Twilight Fulfilled - Maggie Shayne *Rating* 3.5*Genre* Paranormal Romance*Review*Note: It is my firm recommendation that readers or interested parties in this story first read Twilight Prophecy (Wings in the Night #17). You might ask what the reason is for my recommendation. Simple actually. Twilight Fulfilled in the sequel to that novel. The key players remain absolutely the same, but it adds a few more to make the plot and storyline more appealing to readers. The story itself surrounds two main characters Utana and Brigit. Yes, James and Lucy the former Chosen who became a vampire are back as well, but James story was Twilight Prophecy.Utana, or Utanapishtim of Babylonian is a 5000 years old vampire; the first immortal from ancient Sumeria is alive and on the loose. Between Utana and human vigilantes, they have eliminated hundreds of vampires including friends and family of Brigit and James. Utana is able to blast a beam of light from his eyes and can steal the powers away from anyone such as James's ability to heal. Utana can also sense vampires just as they can sense the presence of the Chosen who they swear to protect at all costs. When Utana meets Nash Gravenham-Bail a Special Agent for the CIA's Department of Paranormal Investigations; he is taken in by his lies and agrees work with him to eliminate not only the vampires, but the chosen as well. Brigit Poe is part vampire, part human who has the face of angel, the heart of a demon and the power of Satan himself. While James used his healing powers to raise Utana from the ashes; Brigit is tasked to kill Utana before he can eliminate the rest of the vampires. She has a hair-trigger temper that suits her for the job. After Brigit faces off with Utana and exchanges a blistering kiss with him, it eventually leads her to a better understanding of Utana and how he has been misguided into killing the vampires on the behest of the Division of Paranormal Investigations--a Black ops division of the CIA. What was an antagonist relationship with Brigit desiring vengeance against Utana, becomes something so much more romantic. One of the more interesting characters is Roxanne Corona (Roxy) who has been a friend to the vampires all her life. She is one of the Chosen. The Chosen tend not to live past the age of 40 but she has defeated the odds. Roxy has no desire to become a vampire but will do anything to help them against the government who wants to see them extinct. Roxy is in hiding at the St. Dymphna Asylum where the government is collecting all the Belladonna carriers. Roxy is also a card carrying spell caster.I like the character development of Utana in this story. He goes from being an extremely dangerous and misguided threat to the vampires, to understanding and loving someone who he believes was sent by the Gods themself. Readers won't be disappointed that James, or Lucy or the rest of the surviving vampires don't make up more of the story than they do. In the end, the story is brought together perfectly to the point where readers will enjoy it tremendously. My only regret, is not starting this series from the first book on. Now the series has come to an end with this release.Expected publication: September 20th 2011 by Mira --This is actually the sequel to Twilight Prophecy.
